I am working off the assumption that the big terminal on the starter is the power from the battery, the small terminal is the 'ignition switch' that kicks the solenoid in to engage the starter. I know the starter is connected properly, what I don't know is what is the next step to troubleshoot? Now I have 3(2 AC Delco and 1 Duralast) new starters and all 3 engage when the battery is connected. I assumed I just got a 'bad new' starter.
The new starter engages as soon as the battery cables are reconnected. Starter went bad so I bought new one and replaced.
